The Qantas Reconciliation Action Plan, launched in November 2007, builds on Qantas' commitment since 1988 to employing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders (Indigenous) Australians across all areas of the Qantas business.

Working With Us

General Recruitment

We are seeking Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to work with us in various roles, as positions become available, across the Qantas Group (including Jetstar) in full-time, part-time, casual and contract positions in a range of locations across Australia.

Our Indigenous staff currently work as cabin crew, customer service assistants, telephone sales consultants, pilots, ramp/baggage handlers, aircraft maintenance engineers, in catering, cleaning and in a variety of corporate roles.

School-based Traineeships

Qantas provides school-based traineeships to Indigenous students in years 10-12 from schools in the Sydney region, through the Aboriginal Employment Strategy (AES). We also have trainees located in Alice Springs and Adelaide through partnerships with Registered Training Organisations. Trainees commence whilst in year 10 and start with Qantas in November of each year.

University Cadetships

Qantas provides university cadetships for students undertaking tertiary studies at universities in the Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong region. Our cadetships are offered under the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations' Indigenous Cadetship Support program.

Students are paid a salary while undertaking their studies and work for Qantas throughout the university year, gaining valuable employment experience. Cadets have the opportunity to apply for the Graduate Program on completion of their degree or for mainstream roles at Qantas.

Qantas Graduate Program

The Qantas Graduate program offers Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander university graduates the opportunity to work in various areas of the Qantas business over a 2 year period of training in the Sydney corporate head office in New South Wales.
